Thomas Monroe currently serves as the Regional Workforce Advisor for the Catawba Region at the South Carolina Department of Employment and Workforce. In this role, he works at the intersection of education, industry, and community leadership—helping strengthen the state’s talent pipeline and ensuring students and jobseekers are prepared for the evolving needs of employers across the region. Before joining SCDEW, Thomas served as the Workforce Solutions Manager for the Workforce & Economic Development Department at York Technical College. During his tenure, he collaborated closely with industry partners, community organizations, and regional leaders to design and implement training solutions that aligned employer needs with student success. His work supported economic development initiatives and expanded access to high‑quality workforce training throughout the region. Thomas holds a Bachelor of Science in Political Science from Murray State University and a Master of Science in Public Administration from South University. His commitment to public service extends well beyond his professional roles; he has served on numerous boards in both Kentucky and South Carolina, contributing to local government initiatives and nonprofit organizations dedicated to community growth, civic engagement, and regional collaboration. Driven by a passion for service and a belief in the power of education and workforce development, Thomas continues to champion efforts that strengthen communities and expand opportunities for individuals across the Catawba Region and beyond.
