About me
Kathy Bradford has worked as the Lowcountry Regional Career Specialist since 2011. She serves Beaufort, Colleton, Hampton, and Jasper Counties which includes four school districts and various public charter schools. In addition to projects lead by the South Carolina Department of Education Office of Career Readiness, she works on activities in each district/school in coordination with Career and Technical Education (CTE) directors, career specialists, counselors, teachers, and business partners. A major activity is connecting the schools with business and industry for student work-based learning opportunities and increasing student and educator awareness of careers. From 2000 to 2011, Kathy was assistant CTE district coordinator for Charleston County School District. In this position, she worked supporting CTE programs for eight high schools and twelve middle schools. She especially focused on student organizations, advisory councils, professional development, and work-based learning opportunities. Kathy was a classroom teacher from 1977 to 1996 at the Rock Hill Career Development Center (renamed Applied Technology Center). Her curriculum area was Early Childhood Education which prepared high school students to enter careers in childcare and/or advance to postsecondary education in early childhood or elementary. During her career, she has been an active member of SCACTE (South Carolina Association of Career and Technical Education) serving as president elect, president, past president, and secretary/treasurer. She also was SC ACTE Region 2 Policy Committee Representative. Kathy's entire career has been connected to CTE. She is grateful for the many opportunities her various job positions and professional organization activities have afforded her. Two of her greatest rewards have been the numerous students she has enjoyed mentoring and the friendships of many CTE educators and others she has worked with through the years.
