About me
Javier Martinez graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 1982 with a degree in Electrical Engineering. He was commissioned as a 2ndLT through the NROTC Program and served as an Officer in the Marine Corps, in both the Active and Reserve Forces, for 10 years. After leaving the Marine Corps at the rank of Captain, he worked in the corporate world for 20 years before becoming a teacher. He taught US History, AP US History, and Military History at Kaneland HS in Maple Park, IL for 15 years. In 2016 Javier became a National Trainer for the Medal of Honor Foundation’s Character Development Program (CDP) which uses the stories of our nation's Medal of Honor Recipients to teach youth about what it means to live the Core Values of Courage, Commitment, Citizenship, Sacrifice, Integrity, and Patriotism. The CDP is used in schools across the country in classrooms ranging from Elementary to High School. In 2023 he was recognized as the VFW National High School Teacher of the Year. After retiring from the classroom, he has taken on the role of Education Programs Coordinator for the Medal of Honor Foundation.
