About me
Debbie Jones currently serves as the Pee Dee Regional Workforce Advisor for the South Carolina Department of Employment and Workforce, where she utilizes her extensive statewide experience to strengthen partnerships between education and workforce development partners throughout the region. As the mother of three Florence School District One graduates, all of whom have established their careers in Florence County, she takes great pride in supporting local economic growth and fostering opportunities that empower students to succeed within their communities. A native of Virginia, Jones has called Florence, South Carolina, home for over twenty years. Her professional journey reflects a deep commitment to education and community development. After volunteering with The School Foundation, she became a founding staff member of South Carolina Future Minds, where she worked tirelessly to advocate for public education across the state. Her passion for education began twenty years ago when her children first attended Carver Elementary School in Florence. Since then, she has had the privilege of collaborating with dedicated teachers, principals, superintendents, and community leaders to champion the success of students statewide. Jones is a graduate of Meredith College and has held numerous leadership roles, including with SC PTA, YMCA Florence, and Emerging Leaders Florence. She is a 2020 Riley Fellow, 2020 Public Education Policy Fellow, 2022 Leadership Florence graduate, and a graduate of the Non-Profit Leadership Institute at Francis Marion University. She also serves on the board of SC First Steps of Florence, South Carolina Career Development Professionals, and Dillon Economic Development.
