About me
Andrea Niesse brings 25 years of experience in education with a strong emphasis on early literacy and educational neuroscience. As a first year teacher in an urban elementary school in Memphis, TN she discovered early on that she needed a stronger foundation to teach struggling students to read. This led her to become an Orton‑Gillingham certified teacher. She has taught multiple grade levels across public, private, and charter schools. Her career includes serving as a Lead Teacher, Reading Coach, and Elementary Administrator before stepping into her current role as a Transformation Coach with the South Carolina Department of Education in the Office of Leadership Effectiveness. Today, Andrea works as a Subgroup Support Specialist, partnering with schools and districts in the Upstate to ensure all students have access to high‑quality, grade‑level instruction every day. Her proudest accomplishments are her two adult children, Jack (26) and Olivia (23), whom she shares with her husband and “forever boyfriend,” David, of 31 years. Outside of work, Andrea enjoys rooting for her Purdue Boilermakers, needlepointing, playing mahjong, and traveling.
